The doctoral thesis addresses, from a theoretical and experimental point of view, innovative methods and techniques for improving the quality and security of services within the Next Generation Networks, represented by the “Internet of Things” technology and the 5G standard as well, developed during the doctoral stage. In the vision of the “Internet of Things” technology, objects create a ubiquitous and interconnected system that uses several communication technologies. The significant major trend in “Internet of Things” technology in recent years is the explosive growth of connected devices and controlled by the Internet. As a result of various methods of research and testing made in the recent years by maintaining the integrity of traditional networks on a medium term plan, on different meridians, and also by the expertise that I gained in the area of my daily given work-related activity, I have developed in this thesis a significant number of contributions, both theoretical and practical, for users that want to benefit of services that are offered by Next Generation Networks in order to fully benefit of the advantages offered by an highly improved quality and security. The current thesis is structured on these two main topics – quality of service, that is the first topic, in which the own contribution is the study of one of its parameters, called “throughput”. Through this experiment, I optimized the designated parameter, by testing different values of the following factors: quality of the installed network, the level of congestion present in the network, network topology, weather conditions, etc., in order to observe not only changes in its values and implicit variation of the values of quality of service. Therefore, by changing parameter called “throughput”, I met the also the requirement of reliability, but also the validation of the optimization process in an intelligent telecommunications network. At the same time, in the case of the Next Generation Networks, the problems related to quality of service are more likely to interrelate with: the architecture and the parameters of the network, security, the subjective satisfaction of the user, etc. Regarding the second topic, I designed and conceived two practical contributions with the ultimate goal of providing their users with visibility and permanent security on the “vulnerable” goods in a “smart” house, by interacting with different states of the sensors, such as and by evaluating in detail the parameters of the given sensors in order to optimize the security solutions of the objects belonging to that house. Please kindly note that these solutions can be extended to any other “smart location”. Through the simulated “communication” between the sensors of each “smart” object and the two software products that I have designed and realized, as well, with the role of monitoring a model of a “smart” house, respectively detailed evaluation of the parameters of those sensors, I proposed and achieved to provide users with the opportunity to receive timely information on the proper or malfunction of objects and what has occured in changing their normal behavior, while optimizing security solutions for objects belonging to that house. Given the dynamics of events in this area of my actual doctoral research and daily activity, an example would be the affinity with Artificial Intelligence technology, because I believe that we are at the point where complementary technical advances provide capabilities that create a “bridge” over the gap between the virtual and physical world, and also the research on which I focused along these years of my doctoral stage that will provide the opening to continue these efforts in order to strengthen the interaction between objects and users.
